Wanted: Stressed-Out Customers

Fountain Valley entrepreneurs open business to bring healing hands to the community

FOUNTAIN VALLEY, Calif. – Dec. 1, 2009 – In one of the worst economies since the Great Depression, local residents Kelly Berman and Deb Greene are on a mission to offer an important kind of recovery to their community of Fountain Valley, Calif.: a massage.

The women are co-owners of a new elements therapeutic massage studio at the Fountain Valley Promenade Shopping Center on 18303 Brookhurst St. that opened Nov. 19. And the business partners have big goals to find every pain in the neck in their market, literally, and treat it.

Joining one of the fastest-growing therapeutic massage franchises in America, Berman and Greene are the first to bring the elements therapeutic massage brand to the region with a line of services that are growing in demand. Revenues are up as much as 15 percent at the 77 independently owned and operated elements studios across the country, with customers listing stress, tension and pain relief as reasons for their visits.

“The perception of our industry is changing, and it couldn’t come at a better time to Fountain Valley,” Berman says. “Today we can offer a great service and bring health and wellness to customers at a price they can afford.”

With 12 massage rooms, the Fountain Valley studio will be almost twice the size of other elements franchised locations across the U.S. The business will offer six types of therapeutic massage from certified massage therapists: deep tissue massage, trigger point work, prenatal massage, hot stone massage, sports massage, Swedish massage and chair massage.

The holiday season is also a peak time to bring the service to the area. The studio will host a Holiday Open House on Saturday, Dec. 5. to offer the best stress-free purchase and gift card program during the busiest shopping time of the year.

From stressful economy to stress-free business

Berman and Greene know the benefits of the business first-hand. Berman was a licensed Realtor in the mortgage business when the bubble burst. And Greene, a paralegal for a law firm, was laid off when the company downsized. That’s when both women addressed their stressful lives head-on and opened a business to offer stress-free services to a growing public in serious pain.

“This was not only a healing move for both of us and our career objectives,” Greene says. “Now we also own a business that will help every single customer feel better after visiting us. Neither one of us has ever had that in a job. But it’s all we think about now.”

Customers are invited to visit the studio for a tour and a free assessment to match the type of therapeutic massage service that best meets their needs.
